Turning Trash into Treasure: Fugug's Fundraising at SARCAN

August 22, 2020 Fugug's commitment to the community goes beyond hosting events and raising awareness. They also actively engage in fundraising activities to support their operations and continue their valuable work. One such initiative took place on August 22nd, 2020, with an "Afternoon at SARCAN." SARCAN Recycling is a Saskatchewan-based organization that provides a convenient way for residents to recycle their beverage containers and receive a refund on the deposit paid at the time of purchase. Fugug members generously donated their cans and bottles, and volunteers dedicated their afternoon to sorting and returning these items to SARCAN. This simple act of recycling turned everyday waste into a valuable source of funding for the organization. Why is this important? Sustainable Fundraising: This initiative highlights Fugug's commitment to environmental sustainability by actively participating in recycling efforts. A Day of Celebration: Fugug's Eid ul Adha Event

August 1, 2020 This past weekend, Fugug hosted a special event at Forest Grove Park to celebrate Eid ul Adha and raise awareness about COVID-19. Eid ul Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar. It honors the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. To commemorate this, Muslims around the world often sacrifice an animal and share the meat with family, friends, and those in need. Fugug's event brought the community together in a safe and responsible way to observe this important holiday. While celebrating Eid, the event also emphasized the importance of COVID-19 safety measures. Here are some possible highlights from the event: Food and Festivities: Eid is a time for feasting and sharing meals. Attendees enjoyed traditional foods and drinks. There have also been activities for children and families. COVID-19 Awareness: Given the pandemic, Fu...

Volunteers In Action

On July 27, 2020, a group of dedicated Fugug volunteers selflessly went out to distribute groceries to those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This act of kindness was made possible by the generous support of the Canadian Red Cross and the Government of Canada, who provided the necessary funding. We are immensely grateful for their partnership. Of course, none of this would have been achievable without the incredible volunteers who sacrificed their time and energy for the betterment of our community. Your commitment to helping others is truly inspiring. Thank you all for making Fugug a compassionate and supportive place to live.
